Layout UI and Nuxt
Give your Nuxt pages a shared design foundation from the first prompt. Layout UI helps you and your AI keep spacing, components, and themes consistent within your application.
At a glance
| Decision | Layout UI | Nuxt |
|---|---|---|
| Main role | Visual consistency and native UI behavior. | Vue application conventions. |
| Routing | Ordinary links or a separately chosen router. | File-based routing. |
| Design defaults | Component styles, themes, and layout primitives. | Choose a UI layer for your Nuxt project. |
| Together today | Shared Vue components with a Nuxt example. | Server rendering, hydration, client navigation and production build verified. |
A small site can start simply
A content site or landing page can use native HTML, ordinary URLs, and selected Layout UI component assets. You can own the content and connect your preferred backend without adopting an application framework solely to style the interface.
When Nuxt adds value
Nuxt offers file-based routing and application conventions around Vue. If a product benefits from an integrated application structure, evaluate those capabilities on their own merits. Layout UI does not provide a route system or server runtime.
Shared design across different applications
A public website and an internal tool may use different infrastructure while sharing typography, corners, colors, and component spacing. Layout UI keeps those design decisions in an independent layer, with optional assets and readable markup.
Integration scope today
Nuxt uses the Vue adapter for Button, Input, Dialog, and Theme. The working example renders on the server, hydrates in the browser, and remounts correctly across Nuxt page navigation. Use a deterministic initial theme mode and let Nuxt own routing. See the integration guide for versions and component coverage.
A practical evaluation
Build a representative page, then test navigation, keyboard focus, loading, rendering, and mobile layout. Use standalone Layout UI when its scope is enough. Keep Nuxt when its application conventions solve your needs, and evaluate the UI layer separately.
From a brief to a considered screen
Start with a member profile page. Tell your AI who it serves, the main action, and what should feel calm, prominent, or compact. Read the AI guide and choose documented components before adding custom styling.
Preserve Nuxt routing and data loading. Check server-rendered content, hydration, form state, and theme consistency using the integration example.
Refine hierarchy and spacing first, then color and motion. Compare the actual screen at phone and desktop widths, in light and dark mode. Shared defaults provide a starting point; the finished experience still needs review.
Design your first screen
Start with a real form or page and judge the result against your own requirements.
